Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. for both men and women. However, screening is an effective preventive measure. If signs of pre-cancer are found during screening, colorectal cancer can be completely prevented. More than a third of adults over the age of 50 are not screened appropriately. Many of the vulnerable patient populations OCHIN members serve are at elevated risk for colorectal cancer.
